Marion Bush: Watercolors, acrylics, mixed-media
I have been asked from time to time "Why do you paint?" All I can say is that I feel that I must. I have also been asked "Where does your inspiration come from?" It comes from nature, from my soul, and very often from other artists. I am not inspired to paint anything reflecting world problems or human misery. Instead I hope to portray joy and the beauty that exists in the world.
Since I started painting over 20 years ago, watercolor has been my medium. Five years ago, however, I took a course in combining collage with watercolor. This was a whole new experience with texture for me and opened up another world of ideas. Then I took a course in acrylic paint and collage which helped to free me from my more traditional and realistic approach. I am just beginning to understand abstraction and paint from within instead of actually looking at my subject matter.
I very much enjoy the process and the learning involved in creating a new work of art. Below is some of my work - to view the piece better, click on it to enlarge.
